Glitter
Tiles
This tutorial is written
for Paint Shop Pro 8 and Animation
Shop. It should be possible to do in
later versions if you have Animation
Shop. You can get a similar effect
with PSP 7 but its Noise effect works
differently.
Create a new image 50 x
50, raster, transparent (it will be
bigger when we are finished)

Click on the Flood Fill
tool
On the Materials Pallet, set the
foreground material to gradient and
then click on the gradient block to
set the options as follows:
Gradient = Foreground -
Background
Style = Linear
Angle = 0
Repeats = 7
Click on the canvas to fill it with
the gradient.

Layers menu, Duplicate
Layers menu, Duplicate (to give you
3 layers in total)

On the Layers Pallet,
the top layer should be selected Adjust menu, Add/Remove Noise, Add
Noise - Select Gausian, Monochrome, 40
(use a higher number if your gradient
colours are dark).
On
the Layer Pallet, click on the middle
layer.
Add
Noise again, increasing the setting by
5
(The change is hidden under the top
layer, so you won't see it)
On
the Layer Pallet, click on the bottom
layer
Add
Noise again, increasing the setting by
another 5
(Again the change is hidden by the
layers above)

Image
menu, Resize
Width
= 100 pixels
(use the pull down list to change
between % and pixels if necessary)
Height = 100 pixels
Resample Using = ticked and use the
pull down list to set to Pixel
Resize.
Resize All Layers = Ticked

With
the bottom layer still selected on the
Layers Pallet...
Adjust
menu, Sharpness, Sharpen (change is
hidden by the layers above)
On
the Layer pallet, select the middle
layer
Adjust
menu, Sharpness, Sharpen (change is
hidden still)
On
the Layer Pallet, select the top layer
Adjust
menu, Sharpness, Sharpen

File
menu, Save As - give the image a name
and then pull down the list for
"Save As Type" at the bottom
and select Animation
|
Open
Animation Shop
File
menu, Preferences, General Program
Preferences
Click
on the Layered Files tab
Set
the options as shown - so that the top
box is unticked and "Keep layers
as seperate frame" is selected. |

menu, Open - set the File Type to
Paint Shop Pro
Locate
and open the file you saved from PSP
View
menu, Animation (to preview your
animation)
Save
the file as a .gif |
